Onur Ünlü’s “Güneşin Oğlu” is being adapted for the stage!
Considered one of the most distinctive films in Turkish cinema, “Güneşin Oğlu,” written and directed by Onur Ünlü, is brought to the stage as a Zorlu PSM production with a powerful cast of master actors and emerging talents. Adapting the darkly comic universe of the original film for theatre, “Güneşin Oğlu” meets theatre lovers in a brand-new form.
The play stars İbrahim Selim, Deniz Celiloğlu, İlayda Alişan, Beyti Engin, Ali Yoğurtcuoğlu, and Zeynep Kankonde, joined by Efekan Can, Sergen Özdemir, Ilgaz Kaya, and Selin Beliz Şahan.
Having spent his entire life waiting for a miracle, Fikri Şemsigil finally experiences one and discovers that he is the “Son of the Sun.” Yet, contrary to his expectations, this miracle completely turns his life upside down. Fikri Bey’s spirit now moves in and out of the bodies of the people around him. Eventually, he realizes that in order to free himself from the miracle he once longed for, he must pursue the truth. Events spiral out of control. But what will happen to the beautiful young woman living in the apartment across the street?
Directed jointly by Onur Ünlü and Nagihan Gürkan, the play features a unique stage language in which the actors create their own spaces on stage, maintaining a relentless pace from beginning to end. “Güneşin Oğlu” premieres on December 5 at the Zorlu PSM Turkcell Platinum Stage.
