Jan Garbarek Group featuring Trilok Gurtu will perform at Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage on December 4, 2026, organized by Stagepass.
Legendary European jazz musician Jan Garbarek returns to Istanbul with his unmistakable musical voice and extraordinary virtuosity. Joining him on stage will be acclaimed musicians Rainer Brüninghaus (piano), Yuri Daniel (bass), and the renowned Indian percussion master Trilok Gurtu.
Following his sold-out concert at Royal Festival Hall in London, critic Sarah Chaplin described Garbarek as:
“After more than fifty years in the business, Garbarek comes as close to perfection as humanly possible. A master of silence and sound, and a true virtuoso of both striking rhythmic figures and heartbreaking beauty.”
Through landmark albums released on ECM Records—including collaborations with Keith Jarrett such as Belonging, My Song, and the iconic Officium—Jan Garbarek has secured a unique place in jazz history.
His music merges avant-garde jazz with Scandinavian melodies, modal structures, European folk influences, and contemporary world music. Known for his crystal-clear saxophone tone and deeply meditative stage atmosphere, Garbarek appeals not only to jazz audiences but also to listeners drawn to genre-defying musical exploration.
Meanwhile, Trilok Gurtu—often described by critics as a “shamanic healer”—brings his extraordinary fusion of Indian and Western musical traditions to the performance.
Together, these four powerful musical personalities promise a timeless and mesmerizing journey for the audience.
