MÜDAHALE
The event is performed in Turkish. It is not suitable for audiences who do not speak Turkish.
What if one day your closest friend told you that the reality you think you’ve built—your social relationships, your identity, even your sense of self—is no longer sustainable in the way you believe it to be?
What if your friend was never who you thought they were?
The play begins with two friends who have agreed to meet in a city square to protest a military intervention intended to bring another country under control. However, one of them fails to show up at the protest—and later that same evening, confesses to supporting the intervention. A is thrown into confusion upon witnessing a side of B they never believed existed. Has their friend always been like this, or has a new romantic relationship changed them?
As B begins to transform—becoming, in A’s eyes, a “less admirable” version of themselves—A feels compelled to intervene. But this attempt to “fix” their friend turns into an intrusion into B’s life under the guise of friendship. After this intervention, B tells A that they no longer want to continue the friendship.
Intervention examines how friendship is reshaped through the shadow of political intervention, following two friends, A and B, whose relationship evolves in fragmented moments. The play questions the cost of adapting to the modern world—whether belonging requires the loss of self.
It explores loneliness, fear of rejection, and the tension between endurance and disappearance, ultimately asking whose will prevails after mutual interventions between two friends.
