Turkey’s first meeting with David Santos and his one-man orchestra that makes fictional stories real with musical storytelling skills.
Singer and multi-instrumentalist David Santos's one-man orchestra, Noiserv, is one of Portugal's most popular names in recent years. Santos grew up in Lisbon, in a family of music lovers. His first album under the name Noiserv was released in 2008 and received great praise. His second album, Almost Visible Orchestra, was released by the French label, Naïve, and was declared “Album of the Year” by the Portuguese Writers Association.
Sharing the same stage with bands like Arcade Fire and Portishead, Noiserv’s reference points include Radiohead, Sigur Rós, and Explosions in the Sky. To this day, Noiserv took the stage for more than 400 concerts in Europe and England, including various festivals. In 2006, he released 00:00:00:00, a concept album made of soundtracks of a non-existent movie. The album, which focuses on piano compositions, was also the first work where Santos sang in Portuguese.
Equipped with a metalophone, an omnichord, a bell, a melodica, a keyboard, a guitar, and toys and jukeboxes, Santos offers a piece of himself to the audience by building songs from a group of sounds and takes them to a unique journey.
“Noiserv is my way to feel the world, my way to tell my feelings to the people.”
