Get ready to discover the amazing potential of bass with a maestro who transformed his classical roots into a lyric and powerful jazz style.
As one of the most famous and sought-after bass players of international jazz scene, Lars Danielsson has a unique talent for creating simple, compelling and lingering melodies with his instrument, and building a common language easily recognizable by the audience, in every project he takes part.
Even though he masters various instruments, such as piano, guitar and cello, Swedish-born Lars Danielsson is one of the prominent names in the jazz world who has found the musical expression he was looking for in bass and double bass. Shortly after his studies on classical cello at Gothenburg Conservatory of Music, he set up the Lars Danielsson Quartet with the former saxophonist of Miles Davis, David Liebman, pianist Bobo Stenson and the legendary ECM drummer, John Christensen, winning many awards and recording 8 albums during a period of 20 years. Danielsson is also known for his collaborate recording sessions with prominent virtuosos, and since the break-up of the quartet, he recorded albums and toured with many maestros, including Leszek Mozdzer, Tigran, Magnus Öström, Arve Henriksen, Bugge Wesseltoft, Nils Petter Molvaer, Eivind Aarset, Jan Bang, Eric Harland. Aside from the special connection he has with bass, Lars Danielsson is also an acclaimed composer and producer who offers delightful scenery through the windows of classical and folk music, as well as jazz.
Introducing a whole different potential to their instruments with unexpected improvisations, Lars Danielsson Group’s eagerly awaited performance will take place at Zorlu PSM Turkcell Platinum Stage.
“I really value creating dialogue between myself and others. Communication is everything, so it's really important for me to play with other musicians and react to what they are playing.”
