With her dreamy sound and distinctive style, Weyes Blood will be performing her melodic and orchestral songs at PSM Jazz Festival on June 19, at %100 Studio!
American Singer Natalie Mering (or Weyes Blood as you know her) began writing songs when she was just 15. She spent some formative years in the underground noise music scene, playing in bands Jackie-O Motherfucker and Nautical Almanac.
Her debut album The Outside Room was released in 2011, followed up by 2014’s The Innocents. She gained recognition with 2016’s Front Row Seat to Earth, where for her distinctive style of melodic, orchestral, and melancholic songwriting melded with apocalyptic themes. Artist released Titanic Rising last year. Mering’s voice sounds at once classic and new — her music could exist as comfortably in the ‘70s as it does in our current age of anxiety and tension, making her a unique cultural commentator on society’s current condition.
“There’s a lot of artists out there who are pretty big but don’t write their songs, they just have a lifestyle brand. These are all things that I think are a great enemy to music. – Weyes Blood 2019
