Waiting For Godot, Samuel Beckett's absurdist play, is considered one of the most important works of art of the 20th century. The classic play is coming Zorlu PSM with the production of Şahika Tekand and the Studio Players. Waiting For Godot will be on the Zorlu PSM Drama Stage throughout the season!
Waiting For Godot features two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, who endlessly wait for the mysterious Godot. Even though they sometimes get desperate, they never move and their hope is quickly restored. The play has seen various interpretations since 1953, the year in which it premiered. Zorlu PSM will feature the production of Şahika Tekand and the Studio Players, which was previously performed in the 20th Istanbul Theatre Festival and the Toneelhuis Bourla Theatre in Antwerp, Belgium.
Şahika Tekand was granted an associate professorship in 2013 in the Department of Theatre and Acting in 9 Eylül University, the school she graduated from and obtained her PhD degree in. She formed her theatre ensemble called "Studio Oyuncuları" (Studio Players) in 1990 and has been staging various plays with them. Aiming to be after what is contemporary, especially in acting, Studio Players' interpretation of Waiting For Godot features the "Performative Staging and Acting Method", a technique Tekand has developed herself. With the various plays they have performed so far, the Studio Players have travelled through national and international festivals, gaining worldwide acclaim.
