Famous for her unique interpretation of chansons, Patricia Kaas who has a a solid reputation in the international music market; will perform on October 26th at Zorlu PSM Main Theater!

Born in 1966, singer Patricia Kaas grow up in Lorraine region of France. Her first professional gig was at the age of 13, singing at a night club in Germany for 7 years. While she was trying to find a place for herself in the music world, she met an architect called Bernard Schwartz . Through his networks, she met with Francois Bernheim who was a song writer, and he introduced her to Gerard Depardieu who became the sponsor of Kaas’s music. She rapidly gain reputation and prestige. The music market which was largely dominated by English songs, it was hard for Kaas to find an international place for herself with French songs, however she made it happen.

She infused pop, jazz and blues to traditional french songs and made it sound amazing. In 1985, she released ‘Jalouse’ and couldn’t impressed the audience as she wanted to. However, her ambition never gave up and in 1987 she released the hit album ‘Mademoiselle chante le blues’ and it became her first hit and was placed at No. 7 on the French singles chart. She recorded her next single ‘D’Allemange’ in 1988. Her first album ‘Mademoiselle chante…’, published in 1987, ranked at No. 2 in French album charts for two months, going platinum in France, Switzerland and Belgium, and gold in Canada.

She embarked on her first world tour in 1990, performing 196 concerts in 12 countries, in front of her 750,000 fans. With the release of her 1990 album ‘Scene de vie’, which incorporated the blues, pop and jazz beats with the traditional French tunes, she finally earned recognition in the international market. Her concept album ‘Piano Bar by Patricia Kaas’, recorded in 2002, was her first English album. This was followed by a world tour ‘Piano Bar Live’ with performances in Europe, Asia, and the United States.

She published her autobiography ‘L’Ombre de ma Voix’ in 2011, which became an instant success and has been translated into over six languages. In 2012, she released ‘Kaas chante Piaf’ as a tribute to the French singer Edith Piaf, which included 21 of the latter’s greatest tracks.

During her music career, she was awarded many times. In 1987, she received the ‘Discovery of the Year’ award at the Victoires de la Musique awards. She bagged the ‘Best Foreign Sales’ and ‘Best Female Artist’ awards at the Victoires de la Musique and won one of Germany’s biggest music awards, the Golden Europa, in 1990. She received the Golden Europa again in 2002. She received the ‘Best Foreign Sales’ award at the Victoires de la Musique and ‘Best French Artist of the Year’ at the World Music Awards, in 1995.

Turkcell Stage, being among the world’s limited numbered most developed performance centers with its technological equipment, provides an exclusive and delighting experience to its guests with its enriched acoustic features.

Turkcell Stage expands to a space of 1.570 m2 in total including the 350 m2 movable area, (with 36 m height, 22 m wideness and 24 m depth) 528 m2 stage and backstage. The stage, formed of 12 separate elevators, comes to the fore with its construction enabling entrance to the under stage entrances. The totally mechanic orchestra pit, also being able to be used as a downstage seating area, is situated so comfortable and huge that it can host the greatest symphony orchestras. Turkcell Stage, with a construction of two balconies and a capacity of 2.190 people, puts the best equipment at the art lovers’ disposal with its advanced technological video, sound and light systems. Zorlu PSM, directing Turkey’s art life significantly, has hosted approximately 1000 performances such as the Cats musical, The Phantom of Opera, Gerard Depardieu, Hugh Jackman, PJ Harvey, Damien Rice and about 1 million audiences since the time it was opened. Zorlu PSM, in its 3rd season with a totally new format, also built a new concert area that can be positioned as a winter concert area in İstanbul with a capacity of being able to host 3500 guests standing. The PSM has been continuing both Turkish and foreign thematic standing concerts without slowing down.
