MIX FESTIVAL, an experience between sounds that will initiate the wonders of the new season, will welcome you in Zorlu PSM, which has pioneered the art and culture scenes of Istanbul since the first day it opened its doors. MIX FESTIVAL will bring foreign artists and the talented musicians of Turkey together within the concept of a festival for two days between 30 September - 1 October.

The program, which will expand to Main Stage, Drama Stage, Studio, Meydan Fuaye, VIP Lounge, Sky Lounge and PSM Amfi, will feature musicians including the English band Oi Va Voi which has a huge fanbase in Turkey, Ceza who is the most popular figure of Turkish rap music, Büyük Ev Ablukada which has turned into a phenomenon with its live performances and albums, Baba Zula which has influenced the world as well as Turkey with its unique sound, Mode XL which is an important band of Turkey's rap scene, the reggae band Che Sudaka which is known for its energetic live performances, Sattas which is the most important representative of reggae music in Turkey, Hey! Douglas who modernizes the psychedelic, funk and soul songs of the 70s, as well as others such as Gaye Su Akyol, She Past Away, The Ringo Jets, In Hoodies and Neophon Ensemble: Welcoming Maqam and Red Bull Warm Up bands; Help! The Captain Threw Up, İdil & Da Poet, Ozbi, Ponza, Uluru.

The MIX FESTIVAL program, which will also feature local and foreign DJs, will host activities other than live performances, expanding the festival experience throughout Zorlu PSM. The market that will be set on Meydan Fuaye will be open from 2 PM on October 1 and will be as lively as the concerts. You will be able to buy authentic records and CD's from the record stands of Kontra Plak, Hammer, Rainbow 45 and Opus 3a, follow art magazines from around the world with Pera 64, experience the intriguing words of the Turkish language designed as souvenirs with Lugat 365, laugh with the former issues of OT Dergisi, experience as materializes its wide internet market with over 50 designers. Furthermore, you will have the chance to purchase coffee from various origins at the stands of Coffee Sapiens and Cup of Joy, join the hip-hop workshop of Trysoldier between 4-5 PM and watch the exceptional performance of the dancing duo afterwards, visit the exhibition of Aylin Güngör's photo book From Where I Am from Bant Mag. Yayınları and the traveling exhibition which will appear for the first time in İstanbul after prestigious venues such as Le Guess Who Festival, All Tomorrow's Parties Festival and Amsterdam Paradiso.

As the live performances of musicians from all around the world and the events of the market in Meydan Fuaye go on, Sky Lounge will host various workshops. The odor workshop of perfumer Vedat Ozan will be very useful in the coffee workshop of Coffee Sapiens. Besides, you will be able to join the print workshop of illustrator Ayliz Abbas and the fanzine workshop of Pera 64. The flower arrangement workshop of Müz, which finds the extraordinary in simplicity, and the jewellery design workshop of Elçin Sümer, the founder of Sümerian which presents personal wearable sculptures, are the other workshops you can find in the Sky Lounge. After these workshops, the Sky Lounge will slowly turn into a night of swing with the Swing/Lindyhop workshop of İstanbul Lindyhoppers at 8 PM and the live music on 9 PM.

Büyük Ev Ablukada, who rose to fame with their live performance series in Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası called "Ay Şuram Ağrıyo" after starting out in 2008, is named after the Turgut Uyar poem with the same name. The influence of the Second New Turkish Poetry is also apparent in the lyrics.

All of the band members use pseudonyms. After starting out as a duo, Canavar Banavar and Afordisman Salihins added Bas Bariton, Gelicem Nerdesin, Bentek Sizhepiniz and Galvaniz Gelbiraz to the crew. Their "Full Faça" performance in 21 December 2012 was followed by an album of the same name on their own "Olmadı Kaçarız" label. Büyük Ev Ablukada recently shared two songs from their upcoming album "Fırtınayt" and signalled a small shift to a more electronic sound.


Che Sudaka, which brings punk, reggae, hip-hop and ska together, consists of two Argentinians and two Colombians living in Barcelona. The band, which was formed in early 2000s, has released 8 albums so far and performed in over 1000 live concerts. Today, they are seen as one of the most important representatives of "Mestizo" music.

Starting out with Lion Paternoster and Kachafaz Jackpot, who joined a day after Paternoster according to the official site, the band acquired Sergio Morales and Jota in 2004. Known with their entertaining and energetic live performances, Che Sudaka has shared the stage with musicians such as Mano Chao and Amparanoia. Their influences include The Clash, Mano Negra and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.


The name of Sattas, a band which was formed by Orçun Sünear and Derya Eke in 2004, is derived from the Jamaican American word "satta", which means "relax". Having made their debut with "SATTAS - SATTAS" in 2012, the band currently is working on the second album.

They appeared on many festivals throughout Turkey with their reggae-based take on jazz, ska, dub, classical music and rock. Sattas is a crowded bunch with Mert Fehmi Atalan on the trumpet, Emir Erunsal on the tenor/baritone saxophone, Seçkin Özmutlu on the trombone, Deniz Felder on the tenor saxophone, Faruk Demir Tugayoğlu on the keyboard and back vocals, Batu Kurnaz on the guitar, Sami Dönmez on the guitar and back vocals, Öykü Gülata and Cem Konuk on the bass, Derya Eke on the drums and Orçun Sünear on the vocals.


Hey! Douglas is a project of Yasin Vural, the producer who is mostly known for his work with Mode XL, the Ankara-based rap group, under the pseudonym veyasin. Rearranging the psychedelic, funk and soul songs from the 70s, veyasin also pays tribute to musicians such as Yavuz Çetin.

Veyasin, an artist who also uses visual images such as street art and graffiti efficiently, has gained acclaim for his videos as well as mixes in which he includes disco rhythms to the famous songs of Erkin Koray, Neşet Ertaş and Barış Manço.


The Ringo Jets, which was formed in 2012 and influenced by bands such as Howlin' Wolf, Bo Diddley, The Who, The Sonics, The Kinks and The Stooges, released its namesake album in 2014 after appearing in festivals such as Glimps in Gent, Primavera in Barcelona, Waves in Vienna and Les Rencontres Trans Musicales in Rennes.

Having reached to a wide audience throughout Turkey with the video of their single "Spring of War", The Ringo Jets is currently preparing to release a new album after the EPs Evil Eye and Quatre.


Elif Çağlar, who released an album called 1-10 with Bagdat Avenue after taking the first place in Roxy Müzik Günleri, released her solo album titled M-U-S-I-C. This album was the first English album in the history of Turkey with lyrics, music and arrangements by a female jazz singer. After releasing an EP titled Hafif Batı Müziği and her second album titled Misfit in 2015, Elif Çağlar will meet the Zorlu PSM audience with her band on the first day of MIX Festival.


Ayşe Tütüncü & Emre Karabulut Quartet, led by Turkey's first female jazz composer and pianist Ayşe Tütüncü & guitarist Emre Karabulut, harmonizes the piano and electro guitar. Mainly playing Ayşe Tütüncü's tunes, they also cover the songs of Emre Karabulut, whom we know from the band called Acil Servis. They also cover musicians' songs such as John Scofield, Pat Metheny and Michel Petrucciani.


She Past Away, the post-punk band, was formed in 2006 by guitarist and vocalist Volkan Caner and bass player İdris Akbulut. Playing in genres such as post-punk, dark wave, gothic rock and new wave, the band released its first EP called Kasvetli Kutlama in 2010. Having performed in festivals in and outside of Turkey, She Past Away has released two albums called Belirdi Gece (2012) and Narin Yalnızlık (2015). After İdris Akbulut quit in 2015, Volkan Caner added keyboard player Doruk Öztürkcan to the band.

The musical influences of the band include The Sisters of Mercy, Asylum Party, Death in June, Xymox, DAF and Siouxsie and the Banshees. They are also influenced by erotic-horror B-movies and spaghetti westerns.


Having released their first album titled A Lunar Manoeuvre this year, In Hoodies consists of Murat Kılıkçıer and the talented musicians that accompany him. Kılıkçıer worked with Martyn Campbell, Si Connelly, Mike Sidell, Ben Trigg and Ali Berk Aslan in the EP named She Got Caught (2015) and added Steve Sidelnyk and David Minchella to the crew along with Wills and Campbell for the new album. The album was produced by Chris Potter, who had worked with bands such as The Rolling Stones and U2 and had won an award for Best Producer with the Verve album Urban Hymns.


Şenay Lambaoğlu, one of the most notable jazz singers of Turkey, will be on the Zorlu PSM Drama Stage on September 30 with her band Şenay Lambaoğlu Quintet.

Being featured in other projects before her solo career started, Lambaoğlu appeared in the jazz album recordings and live performances of İlyas Mirsayev in 2000. After that, she worked with esteemed musicians in the Beck's Big Band, which was formed in 2002. Having contributed to Cem Köksal's album Siyah Beyaz Masallar, Lambaoğlu released her debut solo album İçimde Aşk Var in 2012. She took the stage in many prestigious festivals in Turkey and abroad. After her second album Zarf Tümleci came out in 2014, she most recently released her third album Başka Türlü Bir Şey in 2015, reinterpreting works of poets such as Can Yücel, Nazım Hikmet and Ömer Hayyam.


Formed in 2011, Neophon Ensemble is a band which brings musicians who study in HMT Rostock together. Neophon Ensemble, which consists of musicians living in Berlin, enables the union of a modern polyphonic orchestra which uses instruments such as the piano, the violin and the percussion. Neophon Ensemble will be performing its Welcoming Maqam project in MIX.

Oi Va Voi, whose name is Yiddish for "Oh my God!", was formed in late 1990s in London, England. After the founding members Sophie Solomon and Lemez Lovaz quit the band in 2006 and 2007 respectively, Oi Va Voi currently consists of Nik Ammar on the guitar, mandolin and vocals, Josh Bleslaw on the drums and percussion, Matt Jury on the bass, Steve Levi on the clarinet and vocals, and David Orchant on the trumpet.

Having released four albums so far titled Digital Folklore (2002), Laughter Through Tears (2003), Oi Va Voi (2007) and Travelling the Face of the Globe (2009), the band rose to fame with their unique interpretation of Bulgarian and Ashkenazi-Sephardic melodies. With their musical productiveness, ability to play a wide repertoire of songs and dynamism on stage, they received critical acclaim.


Ceza, who is the most popular figure of Turkey's rap scene, started his music career when he formed the band U.C.S. in 1995-1996. Having risen to fame with Nefret, his former project with Dr. Fuchs, he went on to work with pop singers such as Candan Erçein and Burcu Güneş. He released his debut solo album Med-Cezir in 2002 and was featured in Fatih Akın's documentary Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul as well as the fiction film Kebab Connection, in which Akın was working as a screenwriter.

After winning an award for Best Turkish Artist in 2007's MTV European Music Awards, Ceza confirmed his success with his works with Ceza, Sezen Aksu, Mercan Dede, Tech N9ne and Killa Hakan. Ceza most recently reunited with his fans with his fifth solo album Suspus last year.


Baba Zula, the band which took Turkish folk music to a whole new level, are known for the psychedelic atmosphere they create as they combine folk music with their own melodies, rhythm and lyrics. After composing the score of Tabutta Rövaşata (Derviş Zaim, 1996), they released their first studio album Üç Oyundan Onyedi Müzik in 1999. The band makes "Space themed oriental music" and has gained critical acclaim with their unique live performances especially in festivals abroad. Most recently, they released an album titled 34 Oto Sanayi in 2014.


Mode XL was formed in 2001 by Evren Besta (Evren Barış) and VEYasin (E. Yasin Vural) in Ankara. The band is known for its different take on hip-hop with the use of live instruments. After starting to work in the studio in 2001, they released their first album titled Altın Jak on the Hammer Müzik label. Taking the stage in hip-hop jams in many cities, the band released its second albüm Serseri Serbest Stili in 2005. After the release of Militanz in 2008, last year's album Mevzu Makamı became a cause célèbre.


Making a name for herself with the band Seni Görmem İmkansız, Gaye Su Akyol made her breakthrough with her debut solo album Develerle Yaşıyorum in 2014. With a modern interpretation of Turkish classical music, she appeared in live performances in and outside Turkey. Extending her fanbase with these concerts, Akyol will release her new album titled Hologram İmparatorluğu on November 11.


Bringing Anatolian music together with Western instruments, Ahmet Aslan plays the guitar, the baglama, and an instrument he designed himself called La-Tar, which is a combination of classical guitar and baglama. Having released Va u Waxt (Wind and Time) in 2004 and Veyvé Mılaketu (Dance of the Angels) in 2007, Aslan experimented with the La-Tar on his latest albüm Na-Mükemmel in 2015.


Rap musician Abdurrahim Akça, also known as Eypio, released his first EP titled A.P.O. in 2005. Starting to work in the Netherlands for a while, he released RapFabriek in 2006. 2007 marked the year for the album titled Hırsız Var. After living in the Netherlands for six years, A.P.O. released his fourth underground album Apollo in 2008, the year in which he returned to Turkey. He was featured in Fuat's album Kalbüm, which was released in February 2009. He later did a duet with Sultana for the soundtrack of the teen movie Adab-ı Muaşeret, which came out in May 2009. Eypio most recently released his latest album, Günah Benim, in July 1, 2016.


Taksim Trio, which consists of Hüsnü Şenlendirici on the clarinet, İsmail Tunçbilek on the baglam and Aytaç Doğan on the zither, was formed in 2007. Their namesake album was released in 2007 on the Doublemoon label. Reuniting in 2012, they released their second album titled Taksim Trio 2 in 2013 on the Dokuz Sekiz Müzik label. With their effective live performances in which the harmony of three different souls combine to create magical sounds, they have managed to apply to a fanbase not only in Turkey, but also abroad.


Turkish folk musician Erdal Erzincan started playing the baglama at a young age. After his debut album Töre in 1994, he released four more solo albums titled Garip, Gurbet Yollarında, Anadolu (Enstrümantal) and Al Mendil, as well as three collaboration albums titled Türküler Sevdamız with Tolga Sağ and İsmail Özden, Türküler Sevdamız 2 with Tolga Sağ and Yılmaz Çelik, and Türküler Sevdamız 3 with Tolga Sağ, Yılmaz Çelik and Muharrem Temiz. 2006 marked a year in which he released another solo album titled Kervan.

In 1996, with the support of President Roman Herzog, he performed alongside the Köln Philarmonic Orchestra, conducted by Betin Güneş with Arif Şağ and Erol Parlak. The repertoire of this concert was later released as an album titled Concerto for Baglama. Erzincan performed and released an instrumental album with Iranian kemancha player Kayhan Kalhor in 2004. This year, he released his latest instrumental album titled Karasu.


Niyazi Koyuncu, the musician from Karadeniz and brother of Kazım Koyuncu, formed the ethnic band Seritana, which means 'a light in the dark' in Laz language. As the lead singer of the band, Koyuncu was influenced by the street, a place in which he believed true art lay. After coming to Istanbul, Seritana decided to disband and Koyuncu released his solo album Muço Pa! in 2012. The songs were in Turkish, Laz language, Georgian, Mingrelian language and Homshetsi dialect. This year, he released his second solo album Liva.


Luxus, the oriental blues band formed in 2005, has established their authentic sound over the years and started to make their own songs after beginning with covers of famous rock songs influenced by the sounds of the Balkans and Anatolia.

After their debut album Acayip Şeyler in 2008, Luxus released Bi' Lareya in 2011 and Hunim Başımda in 2014. The crew consists of Alper Bakıner on the vocals and violins, Kamuran Yalçın on the vocals and clarinet, Burak Beyrek on the drums, İsmet Kızıl on the percussions, Cem Kurt on the guitar, Olcay Bozkurt on the bass and Mikail Şimşek on the trombone.


Kolektif Istanbul, the band which brings funk and jazz together with the music of Eastern Europe,  was formed in 2004 and has released four albums titled Balkanatolia (2005), Krivoto (2008), Kerevet (2013) and Pastırma Yazı (2016). They received critical acclaim with the entertaining music video of "Acımadı Yine", a song from their latest album, which also proved that they still were interested in the musical union of Anatolia  and the Balkans. The Turkish lyrics of "Acımadı Yine" was written by Ceylan Ertem to the music of the Bulgarian song "Kamanite Padat".

Kolektif Istanbul  was formed by a collaboration between Richard Laniepce and Aslı Doğan. Laniepce (bagpipes and saxophone) and Doğan (vocals) are accompanied by Tamer Karaoğlu on the accordion, Talat Karaoğlu on the clarinet, Ertan Şahin on the tuba and Ediz Hafızoğlu on the drums. The band, which has performed in prestigious venues around the world, has mostly gained critical acclaim with their performances in festivals such as Montreux Jazz, Schleswig-Holstein Musik and SESC Pompeia.


After releasing his EP titled Su Akar Deli Bakar in 2015 on the Müzik Hayvanı label, Ahmet Ali Arslan went on to release his second EP titled Bahara Övgü in 2016, extending his fanbase. As he sings his local, cozy songs in the language of today influenced by classical Turkish music and folk music, he is accompanied by Ozan Sarohan on the fretless guitar and the bouzouki, Rana Uludağ on the percussion and Ozan Kısaparmak on the bass.


Singer, songwriter, composer and guitarist Gökçe Kılınçer defines her music as retro-pop. Having taken second place in 2012's Roxy Müzik Günleri competition, she released her first first single Aşk Beni Bulunca in December 2014 on the Dokuzsekiz Müzik label. After releasing her other singles O Beni Bilmez and Güneşin Kızkardeşi, Kılınçer is currently working on her debut album in London.


Turkish Edits, which has rearranged the Turkish funk, soul, jazz, rock and psychedelic songs of 60s, 70s and 80s for the dancefloor, was formed by the collaboration of various artists of the music scene. Aksak, aka Mehmet Koryürek, is one of these talents. Aksak, who started his musical journey with jazz and classical music, was also highly influenced by the hip-hop and house scenes of the 80s. He was a part of the team who founded two of the most important electronic radio channels of Istanbul. He gained critical acclaim with his live performances in night clubs and music festivals.


Basri Fırat Bayraktar, known by his pseudonym Kamufle, released his debut album Olumsuzluklar in 2012. Having released another album titled Hayale Daldım and appeared in TV series Muck as Selim in the following years, the musician is mostly known for his first single from Hayale Daldım, "Sittin Sene" which features Gökçe. 


Try Soldier, the most famous hip-hop dance duo of Turkey whose live performances have gained critical acclaim through the world, will be on the Meydan Fuaye in Zorlu PSM as a part of MIX Festival. The duo consists of Doğukan Gençer and Ataberk Özdene, who are highly compotent in the new generation hip-hop dance New Style and will meet the Zorlu PSM audience with a live performance following a hip-hop dance workshop. İdil Meşe & Da Poet

Formed in: The duo started working together in 2015.

Genre: Trip-hop, Synth Pop

Influences: Idil Mese's songs meditate on the themes of love and loss, and tell the stories of heart and mind, beauty and truth. Nature is her most crucial inspiration source. Da Poet and Idil Mese in common listen to Jazz, Hip-hop, Soul, Funk, Trip-hop, Folk and many more.

Released albums: The duo is currently working on their EP in triphop genre which is to be released in 2016 from Noiseist Records.

What are they into other than music? They do enjoy a good barbeque party and fish dinner. They appreciate intense chilling in nature, reading poems and travelling together.
