Niyazi Koyuncu, the singer/songwriter from Karadeniz, will be at Zorlu PSM on January 17th as a part of the Vestel #gururlayerli concerts in collaboration with Atlantis Yapım! Niyazi Koyuncu, brother of renowned musician/activist Kazım Koyuncu who passed away in 2005, was born in 1984 in Hopa, Artvin. Raised by a crowded family and in a region with a diverse culture, Koyuncu learned Karadeniz' structure and melodies, elements he would later include in his music. After leaving Karadeniz Technical University, he went to Eskişehir, the town which would open the doors for his artistic career. Singing to a crowd for the first time in Eskişehir completely by accident, Niyazi Koyuncu discovered his passion. After forming the band called Seritana, which meant "light in darkness" in Laz language, he started to integrate the facts of the streets with his music as the lead singer of the band. Seritana disbanded after moving to Istanbul and led the way to Koyuncu's solo career. His debut album Muço Pa! (How Shall I Do It?) was released in 2013 and featured songs in Laz language, Georgian, Mingrelian and Hamsheni. Having most recently released his second album Liva this year, Koyuncu also appeared in one of the most memorable performances at MIX Festival, which announced the 4th season of Zorlu PSM. On January 17th, The Vestel #gururlayerli concerts, in collaboration with Atlantis Yapım, will present Niyazi Koyuncu, a singer/songwriter who integrates his songs both with the culture of Karadeniz and his own identity as an artist from Karadeniz, at Zorlu PSM!
