Telefon Tel Aviv, the American IDM, ambient techno and glitch project, will be at #studio on April 8th!
Formed by Charles Cooper and Joshua Eustis in 1999, Telefon Tel Aviv released its debut album Fahrenheit Fair Enough in 2001. The highly acclaimed album was followed by Immediate Action #8 EP (2002), modern R&B influenced Map of What is Efforless (2004), Remixes Compiled (2007) and Immolate Yourself (2009). Having used analog tapes and synthesizers for Immolate Yourself, the duo explained their choice by saying that the sound was more "real" that way. Besides their own work, they contributed with samples to the Synthetic Drums 2 database of Native Instruments, the German technology company that designs software and hardware for music production and DJing.
In 2009, Eustis announced that Charles Cooper has passed away through the MySpace page of the band. This also meant that Telefon Tel Aviv would stop producing new music for a while. Having appeared on stage with Puscifer, the band of Tool and A Perfect Circle's Maynard James Keenan, and Nine Inch Nails, a leading representative of industrial rock, Telefon Tel Aviv continued its remixes and collaborations with esteemed names such as Apparat.
Eustis continued his new works under the name Sons of Magdalena, releasing two albums titled Move to Pain (2014) and Ecumenicals. He also produced the works of Tropic of Cancer, collaborated with Turk Dietrich under the name Second Woman, and formed the band called Black Queen. For its 15th year anniversary, an extended version of Fahrenheit Fair Enough was released in 2016.
On April 8th, #studio will host Telefon Tel Aviv, the electronica project from New Orleans!
